Lisey Landon lost her husband Scott two years ago, after a twenty-five-year marriage of profound, sometimes frightening intimacy.

Scott was a celebrated, award-winning, novelist.

And a complex man.

Lisey knew there was a dark place where her husband ventured to face his demons. Boo'ya Moon is what Scott called it; a realm that both terrified and healed him, that could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed to write and live.

Now it's Lisey's turn to face her husband’s demons. And what begins as a widow's effort to sort through her husband's effects becomes a perilous journey into the heart of darkness.

Horror, Love & Nostalgia.

The narrative is different than typical King, but he succeeds with what he sets out to do: combine horror and love into a melancholy, nostalgic story. I thought the exchange between husband and wife was beautiful and true to life. I loved the literary references throughout and how they mixed with the characters. The idea is brilliant and untapped: the literal realization of the world where every person's dreams and imagination resides, and the horror hidden deeply within. It is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful novels King has ever written. Though not his best, I feel that Lisey's Story is well worth the read. It is a generally slow read, compared with his other works, and as also typical with King, the ending is abrupt and slightly anticlimactic. If you are entering King's world for the first time, I would recommend Salems' Lot or The Shining to start with, as they move more quickly. Overall, Lisey's Story was amazing.

What readers and fans of Stephen King say about his novels:

The Long Walk has got to be one of Stephen King's greatest short story accomplishments, up there with the highlights of the Skeleton Crew. The story is about an endurathon contest, where 100 boys just start walking, and if any competitor falls under 4 miles an hour, he is issued a warning. However, if a competitor slows down to under 4 miles after receiving 3 warnings...he is shot dead.  - Chris Moon, London, ON, Canada

"The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years--if it ever did end--began, so far as I can tell, with a boat made from a sheet of newspaper floating down a gutter swollen with rain."  This is the first line of "It," the beginning to one of Stephen King's masterpieces, and probably the most incredible story I've ever read. - Escushion, Monticello, NY, USA

Duma Key: One of Stephen King's best: Yes, it's scary. Yes, it's long. But this new novel is more than just another Stephen King book. With a streamlined style and a plot that's never predictable, it's King at his crisp, clear, page-turning best. - Julie Neal, Sanibel Island, Fla., USA

Insomnia: A method actor who received much of his training at the famed Actor's Studio, Eli Wallach has been delivering stellar performances on both stage and screen for the past 50 years. He gives us one more outstanding performance as he narrates Stephen King's lauded Insomnia.  Listen, let the goose bumps rise, and enjoy every line. - Gail Cooke, TX, USA

Stephen King has been called the world's scariest novelist; however, many criticts agree that his work is too violent and his excessive use of adult language is not nesessary in his writing. However, while reading Bag of Bones, I ( having read most of his priveous novels) found that this one was different. The book is open for all readers: mystery, horror, suspence, and even romance. This is one of the best books I have every read and you won't regret taking a few hours out of a few nights to read this.  - Andrew Percy, Woodbridge, Connecticut, USA

If you're looking for a fast raucous ride the CELL is worth the read: What Stephen King does best is to take the familiar and make it really creepy. (What is more familiar than the cell phone?) Sure the CELL is formulaic, sure it incorporates multiple clichés of the horror genre, but for those Stephen King aficionados the CELL delivers as promised.
In recent literary attempts, King shuned the blood-soaked imagery that was the hallmark of his earliest--and best--works. With the CELL, King returns to his goriest horror roots. It isn't the masterwork of the Green Mile, nor the small-town slice of life of Stand By Me, nor is it the misguided mismash of The Colorado Kid,it is Stephen King and his rawest most unadulterated form. -  Iska Bibble, Denver, CO, USA
